The threshold

Some experiences divide a life into before and after.

A body changes. A future once imagined becomes impossible. An accident, illness, loss, relationship, or unexpected ending alters the shape of a life. The person you once understood yourself to be may no longer exist in the same way.

What is carried

Grief can belong to more than what happened.

There can be grief for the life you expected, the choices you believed would remain yours, and the version of yourself you thought you would become.

These portrait sessions begin within that threshold.

A visual space

The camera becomes a witness.

Through conversation, place, movement, stillness, and photography, we create a visual space where your experience does not need to be explained, corrected, or made beautiful.

The camera becomes a witness to what has been lost, what remains, and what may be quietly emerging.

The photographs offer another vantage point—as though seeing yourself and your life from above, with enough distance to recognize a wider landscape.

Not a finished version of you.
Not the woman you are expected to become.
The woman who is here.

Beginning with a conversation

We begin by listening.

This complimentary 30-minute conversation is a place to learn what these portrait sessions entail, share what is drawing you toward the experience, and discover whether it feels right for you. You do not need to have decided to book a session before we speak.

There is no expectation or requirement to continue. If you decide afterward that you would like to book, we find an outdoor or personally meaningful setting and shape the session around your intention. There is no studio, predetermined pose, or version of you that must be performed.

About the photographer

Another form
of listening.

I earned my degree in photography in 2004. In the years that followed, I worked across weddings, portraiture, families, events, fashion, and documentary coverage—including a political fundraiser in Washington, D.C.

Those experiences taught me to notice what passes quickly: gesture, relationship, atmosphere, and the moment before a person composes herself for the camera.

Over time, I began choosing quieter work—landscapes, reflections, and one-to-one sessions with women. The camera became less about recording an occasion and more about making room for what is present.

I experience photography as another extension of the same listening I bring to sound. One works through vibration; the other through image. Both can offer a different way of witnessing ourselves, holding what has changed, and recognizing what may be ready to emerge.
